School life

Each school day begins with a soft-start between drop off and registration. This provides time for the children to come into school and complete a morning activity, which might include finishing off work or the opportunity for a child to be heard to read by their teacher. After the register, children will take part, in either class or school, Tefillah within their Key Stage.

Dependent on the age of the child, there are one to two lessons before the morning break, followed by lessons between break and lunch, and further learning after lunch. Where possible, Maths and English takes place first thing and the timetable is supplemented throughout the day with Jewish Studies (taught by specialist teachers daily), Science and Foundation subjects. Twice a week, the children are taught PE, either by specialist teachers or by the class teacher. Music and Ivrit are also taught once a week.

Hertsmere Jewish Primary School is open for pupils from 7.30am until 6.00pm. Morning registration is at 8.45am. The official end of the school day is 4.00pm, equating to 36.25 hours per week.
