Peer leadership

School council

The school council members are elected by their peers in Year 2 upwards.

They give valuable input and ideas from a pupil’s perspective and are important ambassadors for our school.

Prefects

When children reach Year 5, they engage in our personalised Student Leadership Programme. Starting in the Summer Term, children work through a number of written tasks, alongside collecting evidence of their contribution to both school and the wider community.

From the evidence collated in their folder, children are then selected to become prefects in the Autumn Term of Year 6 – giving them a range of responsibilities including supporting younger children, supervising and leading activities around the school and representing the school during open evenings and for tours of the school.

The Student Leadership Programme continues, with children still demonstrating a number of core characteristics, which leads to the selection of head boy and girl, along with their deputies.
