About HJPS

Staff structure

The day to day management of the school is led by the Headteacher and the Senior Leadership Team.  They take a school-wide perspective in decision making and contribute to the overall leadership and tactical management of the school.  The SLT is comprised of the staff members shown below.

The Assessment Team

The Assessment Team monitors progress and attainment of the core National Curriculum areas – Literacy, Numeracy and Science.  This team is led by the Deputy Headteacher and the Curriculum Development Leader and report to the Senior Leadership Team.  The Assessment Team is made up of the Literacy Team, Numeracy Team, Science Team, Assessment Team and the Inclusion Team.

The focus of this team is the overall strategic leadership of HJPS, which consists of the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, Assistant Headteacher/Head of Jewish Studies and Assistant Headteachers. Please click here to download a copy of the HJPS Staff Structure for 2016/17.

Mr Isaacs - Headteacher and Strategy Leader

Mr Steven Isaacs graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1995 with a Bachelor of Education. His subject specialism was Performing Arts and Education. Mr Isaacs began his career in 1995 working at a multicultural, maintained school in north west Manchester for two years. In September 1997 he was offered the post of Head of Performing Arts at the British International School in the Philippine Islands where he worked for a year. When he returned to the United Kingdom he worked as a class teacher at the former Avigdor Primary School in Stamford Hill where he progressed to the role of Deputy Headteacher. At this time he completed his MA in School Leadership and Management at the Open University and acquired the National Professional Qualification for Headteachers (NPQH). Mr Isaacs worked at schools in the independent and maintained sector before becoming the school's second Headteacher at HJPS in 2010. He is married and lives in Edgware with three young children.

Mrs Alak-Levi - Interim Deputy Headteacher and Strategy Leader

Mrs Alak-Levi graduated from North London University in 1989, gaining her B.Ed (Honours). She has been a member of the leadership teams in six schools and was the first primary teacher in the Borough of Barnet to be awarded Advanced Skills Teacher status. Mrs Alak-Levi also had the honour of teaching in front of HRH Prince Charles and Chief Inspectors Chris Woodhead and David Bell. She is currently completing her NPQH qualification.

Mr Lax - Assistant Headteacher / Head of Jewish Studies and Strategy Leader

Graduated from University of Leeds in 1989 with BA (Hons) in English; then from University of London Institute of Education in 1990 with PGCE specialising in RE.

Miss Rubin - Assistant Headteacher / Middle Phase Leader and Strategy Leader

Miss Rubin graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2006, gaining a BA (Hons) in Conference and Exhibition Management and an HND in Hospitality and Events. She then completed a PGCE in Primary Education with the Agency of Jewish Education. Miss Rubin has been teaching at HJPS since 2007. She was appointed Phase Leader of Key Stage 1 in 2010. Miss Rubin enjoys taking part in the creative arts and helping to organise events for the whole school to enjoy. She has been a governor and a member of the PTA for the last 7 years.

Mrs Kaye - Assistant Headteacher / Upper Phase Leader and Strategy Leader

Mrs Kaye graduated from Birmingham University in 2004 gaining a BA (Hons) in Classical Literature and Civilisation. She then completed a PGCE in Primary Education with the Agency of Jewish Education. Mrs Kaye has been teaching at HJPS since 2006. In 2009, she qualified as an advanced skills teacher with a specialism in Literacy, providing outreach support for Hertfordshire schools. In 2010 Mrs Kaye was appointed as phase leader of Upper Key Stage 2 and then moved to become leader of Lower Key Stage 2. She is married and lives in Mill Hill.

Mrs Waller - Assistant Headteacher/Inclusion Leader

Mrs Waller graduated from the University of Luton in 1995 with a BA honours degree in Humanities. She then began a career in marketing and spent eight years working as a Marketing Manager and heading up a team. In 2003, after having her own children, she trained as an ESOL teacher and then in 2005 she re-trained as a primary teacher, gaining her GTP. She has worked as a teacher at HJPS since 2005, taking on a variety of roles and responsibilities.

Mrs Rose - Transition Leader & Acting Curriculum Development Leader - Senior Leader

From a young age, Mrs Rose knew that she wanted to be a teacher. After spending her gap year working as a teaching assistant in New Zealand, Mrs Rose returned to England to attend Homerton College, Cambridge. She graduated in 2006 with a BA in English and Education. In 2007, she completed a PGCE at the Agency of Jewish Education, training and achieving QTS at Hertsmere JPS. Mrs Rose has greatly enjoyed growing and developing in her role as teacher and subject co-ordinator at HJPS.

Mrs Myeroff - Early Years Leader - Senior Leader

Mrs Myeroff studied at Birmingham University, graduating in 1999 and then completed a PGCE in 2000 at the University of Hertfordshire. She started her career in a Junior school in Croxley Green as a class teacher and PE Co-ordinator for 2 years. She then moved to Heathfield School as a class teacher and Literacy Co-ordinator. After having a career break, she moved to Clore Shalom as the nursery teacher and joined HJPS in 2014. Mrs Myeroff has taught across a wide range of year groups and held a number of different co-ordinator roles.

Mrs Martin - Inclusion Leader - Senior Leader

Mrs Martin studied at Manchester Metropolitan University, graduating in 2003 with a BEd (Hons) in Primary Education. She then worked in a Junior school in Ickenham as a class teacher and Literacy Co-ordinator. She joined HJPS in 2005. During her time here Mrs Martin has taught across a wide range of year groups and has held a number of different leadership positions.

Mrs Lipman - Senior Leader

Mrs Lipman graduated from Birmingham University in 2003, gaining a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. She went on to complete her PGCE in Primary Education at Manchester Metropolitan University, moving to London to take up her first position teaching in Year 6 at Clore Shalom School. Following 7 years of teaching within the private sector, Mrs Lipman took up the role of Year 5 teacher at HJPS in 2014; going on to lead the Maths curriculum team and become the Curriculum Development Leader. She enjoys opportunities to be creative with children, encouraging them to become independent thinkers and well-rounded individuals.

Mrs Thomas - School Business Manager / Health & Safety Leader - Senior Leader

Mrs Thomas has 20 years’ experience in marketing, finance and business management positions. She initially worked in the finance industry for Global Asset Management and then Raymond James Investment Services, before moving into the childcare industry, working for Asquith Nurseries and now HJPS. Mrs Thomas enjoys the diverse nature of her role, liaising with various departments and individuals on a daily basis, both in school and externally.
